De Agostining Diecast Warbird news: Today we're revealing five new models from the DeAgostini collection of 1:72 scale, WWII warbirds, including two ultra-rare types we've not seen in diecast before.


Hobby Master Diecast Warbird News: We’re proud to showcase 15 brand new collectibles. Among the highlights, you’ll find a CF/A-18A Hornet flown with the Royal Canadian Air Force demonstration team that in 2012 was given specialty paint scheme paying homage to "The True North, Strong and Free." There is also a Vietnam War-era F-4J Phantom II flown with the VMFA-235 "Death Angels" in 1972.

The centerpieces of the collection are a pair of WWII BF 109G-6s, flown by decorated European aces. The BF 109G-6 "Yellow 6" was flown by Ofw. Alfred Surau of 9./JG 3, Germany, in September 1943. Surau scored his first victory on Feb. 28, 1943, and had 41 by September 1943, finishing with 45 victories at the time of his death in October of the same year. The other BF 109G-6 was flown by Eino Ilmari Juutilainen of 1/LeLv34, Finnish Air Force, as it would have appeared in June 1944. Flying primarily against the Soviets, Juutilainen became the highest scoring non-German pilot of all time, with 94 victories to his credit by war’s end.
