A4812 LITTLE BOY BOMB 1/12 "Little Boy" was the codename for the atomic bomb dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 by the B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay. It was the first atomic bomb to be used in warfare and triggered the unconditional surrender of the Imperial Japanese Armed Forces. Of all the bombs that existed during the Second World War, the "Little Boy" Atomic Bomb may well be the most famous. First used in warfare in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the "Little Boy" was the nuclear weapon that ended World War II. The amount of energy generated by an exploding "Little Boy" atomic bomb was the equivalent of a 15 kiloton TNT explosion, despite its relatively small size. The ultra-high air pressure that resulted in a very powerful blast consumed half of that energy; when the explosion generated heat, it consumed one third of the rest of the energy, while the remaining energy was consumed in the creation of radiation. This handcrafted model is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen with a wealth of detail and makes a great gift for any veteran, aviation enthusiast or history buff.
